Once you have access to the Project STEM Forum, you may want to edit your account's email notifications and profile. These instructions apply to your students' accounts as well if they wish to edit theirs.

Update Your Forum Account Settings

To update your account settings:

  • Click on the profile icon in the upper right corner. Then, select the option “Preferences.”

  • You should now be on the Preferences page in your User Dashboard area. By default, you should be viewing the Account menu option for this page.

In this area, you’ll see many default settings for your account. You’re able to adjust your profile picture by:

    • Clicking on the pencil icon under the profile picture area

    • Selecting “Add a custom picture”

    • Selecting “Upload”

    • Choosing a picture from your computer

    • Selecting Save Changes in the modal view

    • Selecting Save Changes at the bottom of the Preferences > Account page.

Update Your Forum Profile Settings

Next, you can update your forum profile settings by going to the Profile menu option on the Preferences page.

Here you can:

  • Add information to the “About Me” section

  • Set your timezone

  • Add your location

  • Add a website

Once you’ve edited any details on this page, you can save your updates by clicking “Save Changes.”

Update Your Forum Email Notifications

Next, you can update your forum email settings by going to the Emails menu option on the Preferences page.

By default, you will be notified by email whenever there are:

  • Updates to public posts in which you have participated, been mentioned, or are quoted.

  • Updates to private posts in which you have participated.

You can override this default if you would prefer to receive notifications less frequently by following the steps below:

1. Under the text “Send me an email when someone replies to my private posts,” change the selected option from “always” to “only when away” or “never.”

If you select “only when away,” you will only receive emails on private posts when an update happens at a time you are away from the Project STEM Forum page. If you select “never,” you will never receive emails on private posts when an update happens.

2. Under the text “Send me an email when someone replies to my public posts, quotes me, or mentions my @username,” change the setting from “always” to “only when away” or “never.”

If you select “only when away,” you will only receive emails on private posts when an update happens at a time you are away from the Project STEM Forum page. If you select “never,” you will never receive emails on private posts when an update happens.

3. Once you have set your preferred email settings, click “Save Changes.”
